How to use the pulse oximeter? Remove any jewelry or nail polish. Warm your hands if they are cold. Relax for at least 5 minutes before taking the readings. Place your hand on your chest, aligned with your heart, and hold it still. Turn on the device and place it on your finger, preferably the middle or index finger of whichever hand you prefer. Hold the device on your finger for a minute or more. If no reading appears, record the highest reading. If no reading appears within 5 seconds, make sure you differentiate between the oxygen saturation reading and your heart rate reading displayed on the screen.
